The model shown to the right is some kind of a cross between an archtop and a small dreadnought. It derives its name from lonely dragon inlay on the upper part of the fretboard. With its 16" lower bout and 2 1/2" body depth, this guitar was initially meant to be a prototype for a smaller size no frill archtop: the kind of archtopr you could practice on without being too scared of hitting the delicate f-holes and/or marring the finish !
Well, it ended up being quite a bit more. Definitely an acoustic sound but with a distinctive archtop bite that can't be mistaken for a typical dreadnought. There's little doubt that its fairly light bracing and oval hole are quite instumental in bringing out quite a bit of volume from this smaller box.
Back and sides are solid Makore (Brazillian Cherry), and the top is Sitka Spruce. The neck is mahogany. The tailpiece was carved from a lovely piece of cocobolo. Finished in NC lacquer, I couldn't resist spicing her up with stunning Waverly tuners.
