Mont cartwright

Fifty year old guitarist Mont Cartwright has been active in the Orlando music scene since 1992.  An intense dual interest in both medicine and music has kept him quite busy on both fronts for the past 24 years.  The son of a singer and concert pianist, Mont was exposed to music at an early age and began piano lessons at age eight. By age ten he had gravitated to the guitar in hopes of being a rock star legend.  Before long he was forming or joining bands and began playing out at age twelve.  Concerned with the realities of a full time musical career, Mont trained as an Ophthalmologist and has been practicing full time since 1992 in Central Florida.  The passion of music never left him however and he has remained very active musically.  Frustrated with the limitations of playing contemporary rock and blues he shifted his interests and studied jazz guitar and theory for six years with Berkeley School of Music graduate and guitar master Richie Zellon, previously of Sanford, Florida.

Since Mont’s arrival in Orlando in 1992, he has played with various local bands.   His most recent activity has been a three year run playing for both the Bernie Lee “Legends of Jazz and Blues” and Jazz mogul Bill White and his “Friends.”

Here's what Mont had to say about my guitars: "I have purchased 4 of Jean-Pierre's guitars.  I own all the big names in Archtops.  Nothing really sounds close to a Laplante.  His designs are also so beautiful.  Most importantly he is one of the nicest people I have ever run across.  As a professional musician I endorse his instruments and whole-heartedly recommend you buy one.  There will be no regrets.  Even Just Jazz Guitar has found out about him and will be publishing an upcoming interview with this master builder.  He deserves recognition for his skills."
